Leftist Mass Announce

Want to find out about rad events in Eugene and Springfield? Not on social media? The Leftist Mass Announcement Signal group is a big signal group to announce rad leftist things going on in town!

Announcements Only – Only for public events and public “calls to action” (rapid response, urgent fundraising, phone zaps, etc).
Low Traffic – There are 1-2 admins for each leftist group involved. Only admins can post so there are no discussions and low traffic.

What is Signal?

Signal is a secure end-to-end encrypted messaging tool. Install by searching for “Signal” in Google Play or the Apple App Store. More info about signal: signal.org

Security/ privacy steps to take before you join:

  1. Hide your Signal phone number – Go to Settings -> Privacy -> Phone Number.  More details
  2. Change your Signal display name to not be your full legal name – Instructions (If you’ve already joined with your full legal nam: leave the group, change your name, and then rejoin. That way the name change isn’t recorded.)

Security/ privacy after you join:

  1. Don’t message people you don’t know in the group without a good reason.
  2. You may receive messages from spam accounts. They would be very generic messages like “Hi how are you doing?” from people you don’t know. Report/Block them and let one of the Leftist Announce admins know so we can remove them from the group.
  3. In general, practice Security Culture
