Storytelling Workshop

Story Structure, Point Of View, “Show Don’t Tell”, Gift of Story

A primer in the structure and narrative techniques used in creating compelling stories. We will focus on writing, but the topics could be of interest to any creative artists interested in shaping narratives that engage and transform an audience. There will be a short craft talk, time to write, and a chance for sharing, including supportive feedback.

What: A Four Part Storytelling Workshop
When:  May 4th, 11th, 18th, and 25th. 6-8pm

Who: Otis Haschemeyer: Instructor, Stanford University’s Online Writer’s Studio

Otis Haschemeyer attended the Stanford Creative Writing Program as a Stegner Fellow, and currently teaches in Stanford’s online “Writer’s Studio,” as part of the Continuing Studies Department. His non-fiction work was the winner of the Margolis Prize, appeared in the Missouri Review, and was later anthologized in Best New American Voices 2003. His creative nonfiction, fiction, essays, and poetry have appeared in Best New American Voices 2009 and in The Sun, The Rumpus, Barrow Street, Alaska Quarterly Review, American Alpine Journal and others. He is a 2015 recipient of an Oregon Literary Arts Fellowship and lives in Eugene Oregon with his family.

The Community Resilience Organizing Workshops (CROW) Project of the Neighborhood Anarchist Collective hosts workshops by and for community members with the goal of sharing skills with our friends and neighbors and empowering others to do the same.
