CLDC @ PIELC: Political Repression and Corporate Surveillance in the Era of Climate Crisis

March 1, 2019 @ 3:00 pm - 4:15 pm

Friday, March 1st 3pm-4:15pm @ EMU 104

As the global climate crisis spirals out of control, fossil fuel pipeline construction in at least two dozen US states has been facing fierce resistance. But police and corporate mercenaries are often meeting these struggles with violent repression–especially the indigenous-led rebellion against the Dakota Access Pipeline in 2016-17. Meanwhile, politicians throughout the country have also passed laws further criminalizing pipeline protest. Join Civil Liberties Defense Center Executive Director Lauren Regan and investigative journalist Will Parrish as they survey the landscape of anti-pipeline struggles in North America — including the campaign against the Pacific Connector Pipeline in Southern Oregon
