SUMMARY:Radical Thought Reading Group
DESCRIPTION:Thursdays 5:30-7:00 PST\nZoom Link \n\n\n\n\nFacilitator \nAlex – alex@neighborhoodanarchists.org \nDescription \nThis ten-week reading group will explore some key texts in radical thought\, including texts by Marx\, the early anarchists\, feminist theorists\, and scholars of contemporary radical movements. The reading schedule for the group mirrors the syllabus for PS 433 Marx and Radical Thought at the University of Oregon. All the readings will be available for download as PDFs via this Google drive link. \nFeel free to show up every week or only the weeks that interest you. SUMMARY:Film Screening: "Touch the Sky: Stories\, Subversions\, & Complexities of Ferguson"
DESCRIPTION:Join: https://neighborhoodanarchists.org/watchtouchthesky \n  \n“A video collage reflecting on the raw moments of the 2014 Ferguson riots. A film for the wild ones\, the anarchists\, and the dreamers…” \nJoin us for a virtual screening of “Touch the Sky” on Saturday\, August 29th @ 7 pm! The film takes a look into the uprisings after the murder of Mike Brown in Ferguson\, Missouri on August 9th\, 2014 with on-the-scene footage of the aftermath in St. Louis. The filmmakers contacted us before the pandemic to organize a Eugene stop on their film promotion tour. The tour was canceled but we’re still showing the film at their request. There will be time for an informal discussion after the film. The doc is ~110 minutes long.  \n  \nThis screening will be conducted over Kast\, a tool that allows for group viewing and discussion. You’ll need to make an account to join (Sorry\, it was the best tool we could find). Please arrive on time so we have time to work out technical issues. We will be starting the film by 7:15 pm. You’ll be able to join the event here: https://neighborhoodanarchists.org/watchtouchthesky \n  \nYou can find the trailer here: https://archive.org/details/touch-the-sky-trailer\n(The doc is also available online for free if you’d like to share this movie: https://archive.org/details/touch-the-sky) \n  \n  \n  \nWarning: Some footage may be graphic for viewers. \n

SUMMARY:Witch's Child Radical Reading Digital
DESCRIPTION:*** COVID-19 Update! *** Because of the virus this will now be digital! \nhttps://meet.jit.si/nacwitchschild (Use Chrome for best experience) \nIn the lead up to May Day 2020 we’ll be reading and discussing The Witch’s Child! \nIt is a beautiful\, almost lyrical\, zine about the need for May Day. \nThis is a short zine\, and no pre-reading is required! It is important to us for this event to be accessible to people of all backgrounds and levels of familiarity with radical literature; all you need is an inquisitive mind! Please join us! \n“This is your story\, child. This is why\nit seems you have everything\, but\nyou feel you have nothing… those\nfeelings of anguish and rage are the\nsame itch the seed feels in the last\ndays of Winter\, before it bursts\nopen and sends out its buds into\nthe world.” \nOnline version: https://unsettlingamerica.wordpress.com/2011/04/23/the-witchs-child/\nPrintable version: https://unsettlingamerica.files.wordpress.com/2014/04/witchs-child-imposed.pdf
