SUMMARY:Solidarity Share Fair: A Really Free Market
DESCRIPTION:Events\n\n\n\n\nThe Share Fair connects people with resources\, services\, and each other in a convenient and fun way. \nThe purpose of the Share Fair is to connect people with resources\, services\, and each other in a convenient and fun way. The fair will be providing free resources and services from local organizations and community groups to unhoused and working class members of the community. There will be food\, live music\, games\, and a chance to know other Eugene organizations and folks in the community – and it’s all free! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDonate to the Share Fair!\n\n\n\nVolunteer at Share Fair!\n\n\n\nProvide a Service!\n\n\n\n\n\nNext Share Fair Details\nTBD \n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe could use the following supplies:\n\nSeasonally appropriate clothes and accessories (T-shirts\, button-up shirts\, slacks\, sweatpants\, jeans\, hats\, socks\, shoes\, boots\, underwear)\nHygiene products (toothbrushes\, toothpaste\, pads\, tampons\, toilet paper\, deodorant\, travel-size soaps and shampoos\, Menstrual hygiene supplies)\nTents\nTarps\nSleeping bags\nSleeping mats\nBackpacks\, bags\nBoots\nBlankets\nCamping gear\nWater bottles\nFirst aid supplies\nFlashlights\nBatteries\nPocket sewing kits\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHow to Donate\nAt the Share Fair: You can bring donations to the share fair the day of the event. We'll take donations 11am - 3pm.\n\nDrop off in advance: Dark Pine Coffee (954 Pearl St). Starting in October.\n\nEmail to arrange pickup/drop off: You can email donations@neighborhoodanarchists.org to arrange pick up or drop off\n\n\nServices we're looking for:\n\nSimple medical services\nHaircuts\nMassage\nJob skills\, resumes\nFoot care\nBike repair\nGames\nShoe repair\nEye exams\nLegal advice\nCar repair\nSewing/ mending\n\nLet us know about the service you'd like to provide on our service interest page\, or email us at sharefair@neighborhoodanarchists.org. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhy Share Fair:\n Our event aims to go beyond the experience of handing someone a sandwich when they are hungry\, we create a space where people are welcomed to join in community. We provide music\, haircuts\, massage\, bike repair\, resume support\, first aid\, warm meals and empathy to folks who are often pushed away.  Additionally\, we offer the opportunity to speak with representatives from health care\, counseling\, and housing services. Through building connections and empowering guests to get involved and volunteer\, we are changing the dynamic of our neighborhoods. We rescue food\, clothing\, shoes\, toiletries\, backpacks\, sleeping bags/camping gear\, and much more from various locations to then redistribute to people in need. With more and more of our neighbors being effected by the housing crisis and food insecurity\, we need events such as the Share Fair now\, more than ever. \nEvents such as the share fair are necessary because capitalism is failing people. Those who don’t conform to the dominant economic model are discarded by society and the government is unable to provide the sort of care we can provide for each other. One of the principles of anarchism is that members of a community see what needs to be done and take responsibility for doing it themselves. In that spirit\, Share Fair is organized by the consensus model; no one leads or follows\, instead\, all work together toward a common goal. We hope to show that it’s possible to take action without the government and to cooperate without hierarchy while still being effective (or being more effective). \n\n\n\n\n\n\nSign up for Updates\nWant to be notified when the next Share Fair is scheduled? Sign up here for updates. Note: If you're interested in volunteering\, please fill out the volunteer form here. \n\n \n\n\n\n\n \n\n \n\n\n \nWe love feedback!\nPlease let us know how we're doing and how we could do better! \nAttendee Survey - Have you already been to the Share Fair? SUMMARY:Soil and Compost Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Learn the fundamentals of building healthy\, live soil\, different composting techniques including worm bins and lasagna layers for garden beds in a hands-on environment. Taught by soil scientist Ian\, and tour by master gardeners Rebecca and Sara.\nSaturday June 8th\, 5-7pm\nIt will be out at a real garden so we can get our hands dirty. Please message us for the address. \nSara bio\nSara has been a student of ecology and organic gardening for 10 plus years now. Permaculture was a way for her to put the puzzle pieces together combining ecological restoration efforts and growing food and medicine for people who are most in need of access to healthy food. She has a degree in environmental studies and OSU Extension Master Gardener certification\, with a special interest in localizing the food system and growing food in smaller urban spaces. \nIan Bio\nIt is my belief that there is no greater freedom allocated to us in our present society than the ability for one to cultivate their own crops and feed themselves and their community the nutrition required for a vital existence. And no greater freedom to the farmer than being able to create ones own fertility ie compost. \nI have been studying organic agriculture for two decades now. Throughout my career I have found practical experience to be instrumental in the process of understanding the nuances of farming and gardening. My first farm internship took place wit the late\, great Bill Gibson of Bittersweet Farms. Since then I have started my own farms\, and helped friends and family\, and clients with theirs.\nI graduated from Oregon state University with a degree in botany and plant pathology. While at university I took classes from multiple disciplines\, including soil science\, horticulture and mycology. While attending classes I had the pleasure of working with Harry McCormack of Sunbow farms where I sharecropped and ran my company artisan gardens\, a 5 acre market garden. After graduation\, I worked with Demeter as a biodynamic inspector based out of Santa Cruz California.\nI have created food recovery systems working with local grocery stores and restaurants to create worm castings and thermophyllic compost piles. I managed a small market garden in the Malibu hills\, where we produced and sold biodynamic compost. A student of Dr. Elaine Ingham for the past 10+ years I have closely followed the evolution of compost tea and the monitoring of soil microbiology. Currently I have a consultant company\, CURE SOIL CONSULTING. My approach is based off of soil microbiology reports where we pair desired microbial biomass and ratios with the specific crops in cultivation. Mineral balancing is a complex science that we do not neglect in lieu of the advent of microbial testing.\nIt is about compiling all the data from every agrarian school of thought and providing all those tools to add to the farms resilience and success. \nMy personal passions lie in the study of plant hormones and the nuances of chemical signaling that happen within the microbial matrix. We are only now beginning to understand the symphony of interactions and signals that take place within the soil matrix. \nComposting in and of itself provides an unparalleled freedom to the farmer and Gardner\, for with very few tools one can acquisition all necessary minerals and plant nutrients without relying on the large companies and corporations needed to mine and ship these elements.\nWhen at all possible there are a plethora of waste products from other industries\, ie fishing industry. It is with this in mind that we will explain and demonstrate the ancient art of composting. May it lead to a remediation of our soils\, our communities and our own internal health. Look forward to seeing you all there.\nThank you\,\nIan Hunter

SUMMARY:Fight Dystopia\, Demand Utopia!
DESCRIPTION:This is a panel on this history\, structure\, and goals of Demand Utopia\, an international network of community organizers interested in the philosophy of Social Ecology. We are inspired by the Revolution in Rojava\, an experiment in radical democracy currently taking place in an autonomous region of northern Syria\, and will discuss some of the international solidarity work we have organized in support of Rojava. \nWe are also part of an emerging continental federation of like minded community organizations called Symbiosis. One of the member groups of Symbiosis is Cooperation Jackson\, who is doing some amazing work around building neighborhood assemblies and a locally controlled solidarity economy in Jackson\, Mississippi. We will share some of their work\, and our efforts to emulate them with our local chapter in Portland called Symbiosis PDX. \nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/400791990754923/
