Clearcut or Not? Understanding Sustainable Forestry

April 12, 2018 @ 11:30 am - 1:30 pm

Where: Downtown Eugene Public Library, Bascom-Tykeson Room

When: Thursday, April 12, 11:30-1:30, program begins at noon

Cost: Free (bring your lunch)

WHAT: The forests surrounding the Willamette Valley offer a place for recreation, are vital to a healthy environment, and provide jobs and business opportunities. These and other interests sometimes conflict and can result in polarizing confrontation. This moderated panel discussion is intended to facilitate a civil dialog to explore different sides of the issues, challenges, and problems faced by forest industry businesses, environmentalists, and scientists.

Moderator: Tree Bressen, author and professional facilitator

Panel:

  • Forestry Representative: Mark Miller, Senior Forester, Trout Mountain Forestry
  • Industry Representative: Todd Payne, President and CEO, Seneca Family of Companies
  • Environmental Representative: Chandra LeGue, Western Oregon Field Coordinator, Oregon Wild
  • Scientific Representative: Lauren Grand, Forestry and Natural Resources Extension Agent, Oregon State University

GreenLane is a membership organization with the goal of helping groups be more sustainable, no matter where they are in their journey. This discussion is intended to help address the concerns some members had when a representative of Seneca was elected to the GreenLane Board of Directors.
